1960 T1 Microbus
This mango green and seagull grey T1 Microbus left the Volkswagen factory at the end of 1959 (model year 1960) as a “11 window” microbus with US specifications (sealed beam head lights, red lens single bulb tail lights, bumper bars with overriders and more).
The Kombi has survived the years pretty well and we can’t wait to bring her back to life.
She’s been nicknamed “Mango”, and we found her neglected and parked far away from her original home of Portland, Oregon. While preserving as much of her originality as possible, “Mango” received a 1400 cc engine (1200 cc case with new big bore pistons and cylinders), totally rebuilt by Ray Schubert of Speedwell USA. Using new, balanced components as well as genuine reconditioned Volkswagen parts, “Mango” will be ready for the future once more.
