1966 T1 Westfalia Camper

This velvet green Volkswagen camper left the factory at the end of 1966 as a Westfalia Camper with US specifications (sealed beam head lights, red lens tail lights, bumper bars with overriders and more). It was originally delivered to Chicago, Illinois.

After spending her early years in the mid west of the United States, “Foamy” went on a long journey through the country joining the new owner and his wife on their honeymoon. After settling down and starting a family the owner decided to pass “Foamy” on to an enthusiast who had the intention to restore her. But unfortunately time moved on and “Foamy” was left waiting.

We found “Foamy” 20 years on, neglected and untouched. She’s still in good shape and we’re keen to bring her back to life.

The camper’s 1600 cc engine was totally rebuilt by Ray Schubert of Speedwell USA using new, balanced components as well as genuine reconditioned Volkswagen parts, “Foamy” is looking forward to more honeymoons and long trips across the country.
